Reunited and it Feels So Good

Lee dropped off his 1962 Rampside Corvair pickup at a local body shop in September, 2016.  He was told it would be finished in a few months.  After a few months he was told it would be 3 weeks or so. It was "3 weeks or so" every few months since then.  For more than two years.

They called yesterday and it was finally finished!  He hooked up the trailer and went to go get it.

There were a few minor issues I would have mentioned, but Lee just want to load up the Corvair and get it out of there!

Now he needs to put on all the bits and pieces he took off so that it could be painted.

This is where the ramp folds down.

He also needs to do some work to get it to start.  It has been sitting for over two years, after all.

But that will give him a fun project over the fall.

I'm sure he will be glad to have a drivable, finished truck.

  1. Two years? WOW. Southern folk certainly take their time, don't they? Bet he's ecstatic just to have it at home once again.

    1. He really was. The body shop kept stopping work on his truck to work on insurance claim work. I imagine that is their main income. But still, two years seems excessive. I'll post pictures when it is ready to go out for a spin. But they didn't start it for those two years, so the gas turned to gel in the fuel pump and the gas lines need work.

  2. Some delays might have been expected as the body shop may have been busy, but 2 years does seem beyond excessive. And not starting it in all that time seems careless as well. Hope that Lee got a deal on the price and yes, I would have mentioned those minor issues, but like your husband, mine would just have wanted to get it home.

    1. He is still getting it running and had to work on some gaskets that were leaking from sitting so long. I'll update with pictures when it is on the road!
