Cricut cards

I bought a Cricut Air and have been having fun making cards.  When you add in the machine, paper and software, I could buy $20 cards and really impress people and it would be cheaper for each card I make!  But these are fun to do and I hope the recipients will appreciate them all the more for the time and effort.  I should keep a list of who got which cards, so I don't send them multiples of the same one, but I haven't gotten that organized, yet.

Cricut sends me scads of emails about new options and I was recently suckered into convinced to buy the latest cartridge.  It makes cards that fold flat for mailing, in the All Occasion Box Cards cartridge

 

and then open up into a box for display.

 

This one is nice with flowers that never wilt.  Although it is rather dictatorial.  GET WELL, fer cryin' out loud!

You have to be careful when assembling these cards.  There are no instructions, so I glued all the flowers first. 

 

When I folded the flower strip to fit the box, one of the flowers was facing the wrong direction, so I had to recut it.

 

I also made a Thank You card from Simple Pop-Up cards.  It was a lot easier to assemble than some in that collection.  And very cute, I thought.

And then I made one for Lee for Valentine's Day.



I have glued things in the wrong place several times.  In some cases, I noticed and fixed the card.  In others, I sent them off before I discovered the error.  Perhaps I will get better, or Cricut will start including instructions on the site.  Either way, future cards should be improved over the first couple of cards I have made.

They are still fun to do and, I hope, fun to receive. 

It's A Girl

Our daughter-in-law had her ultrasound and now we know that our future grandchild is a girl.  It's A Girl!  As any grandparent ( or future grandparent) can tell you, any gender is more than fine.  But because we now know it is a girl, then that is the BEST kind of grandbaby!

I am not a only-pink-for-girls kind of person, but I thought there should be SOME pink things, as a celebration of knowing.  My babies were so big they didn't fit into any of the 3 month size clothes I received, washed and carefully placed in the dresser.  But you need SOMETHING to put on in case the baby is small or even average size.  So I bought some 3 month and 6 month size pink items, added a gift receipt and started making a card.

 

I used my Cricut machine and pulled up all they have on the It's A Girl theme.  There were a lot of ideas.  I chose this card.

 

I didn't make an envelope because I just placed the card inside the box.  The words that were cut from the card were too cute to throw away, so I glued them to some purple cardstock and sent them along, too.  Who knows?  They might want to put up a sign somewhere to announce their good fortune.

 

Welcome Baby Card

I finished the baby afghan I was working on and sent it off.  But it needed a card to go with it.

I searched through the images on the Cricut Design space and found one I liked.  And $.99 cents later I was in business.

I chose a yellow patterned paper for the envelope.  I just had to remember to change the cutting depth from light card stock to paper.  I also used the light grip cutting mat so the finished product would be easier to remove.

I recently visited a Hobby Lobby store and found some cutting mats at a pretty cheap price.  Then I used a coupon and spent less than $4.00 a mat.  I am still learning the machine and have already destroyed one.  That be the cost of learning...my opinion.

I sealed the card with some baby stickers and off went the package.

Cricut Cards

I've been trying to learn to use my new Cricut.  It looks like it will be fun to use, once I figure out what I am doing. 



It is the first few cards that take forever and frustrate me. 

 

I need to hire someone to follow me around and tell me how to do the stuff I don't know how to do.  In a nice way. 

 

Any takers?
