Snakes in a Shop

Lee is in the shop almost every day. So is RJ, the dog.  Recently he went in the shop and reached for the push broom. This is what he found.

It was kind of disconcerting.  It meant that a black snake about 5 feet long was in there at some point and used the bristles on the broom to shed his itchy skin.  Snakes about to shed can get grouchy, so he is maybe in a better mood now.

But I would be cautious about blindly reaching my hand into a bin.  Or maybe I will stay inside the house and be cautious that way.

  2. We have a plastic compost bin that's like a huge garbage can. I found a snake skin in there!

    1. I would much rather find the skin than the entire snake! But either way, seeing a snake where you aren't looking for a snake can be disconcerting.

    1. I agree. And when you see one out of the corner of your eye, you think it is a snake. Then you are embarrassed for scaring yourself.

  4. As much as I dislike any kind of snake, at least it was a black snake. They kill rattle snakes, so in that sense they are good to have around.

    1. They eat the rodents and rattlesnakes. So they really are great to have around. As long as you never see them!
